R-TYPE MSX-MUSIC As everyone may know there is another 'improvement' version of R-Type on the net. However, that version did some changes to the game that may have given it a lighter H.TIMI handler, but it tended to regularly crash during the game with MSX-MUSIC detected. This version is an 8 kB ROM image that will look for R-Type, which means the original cartridge is required in the second slot. If R-Type wasn't detected it will do nothing. It can be loaded in your flash cartridge or used in your favorite MSX emulator. It includes a menu to start the game with different settings than actually detected. The menu will initially display the best detected options when it first appears. The menu has 5 options: 1. START GAME no explanation required. Press the trigger to start the game. 2. SYSTEM (MSX1/MSX2) switch between MSX1 and MSX2 version. In MSX1 mode the palette will not be changed for each level. On an MSX1 computer this option can't be changed. Press the trigger or left or right to switch between the available options. 3. SOUND (PSG/MSX-MUSIC) switch between PSG and MSX-MUSIC. No explanation required. MSX-MUSIC is only available when it's detected. Press the trigger or left or right to switch between the available options. 4. HERTZ (50 HZ/60 HZ) switch between 50 HZ and 60 HZ VDP interrupt. No explanation required. On an MSX1 computer this option can't be changed. It defaults to 60 Hz when possible. Press the trigger or left or right to switch between the available options. 5. SPEED (SLOW/FAST) switch between SLOW and FAST mode. This option can only be changed on CIEL Expert 3, Panasonic FS-A1WX, Panasonic FS-A1WSX, Panasonic FS-A1ST and Panasonic FS-A1GT. It defaults to fast when possible. Press the trigger or left or right to switch between the available options. On MSX1 without MSX-MUSIC detected, the menu will not appear and the game will start immediately. If R-Type wasn't detected this ROM will be skipped entirely.
