With or without Msx Music, under DOS1 and DOS2. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 3.- The Story '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Since the old days, people has resolved their differences playing to Rock, Paper and Scissors, but some of them made an art of it. On a secret place, there is a meeting, each 4 years, with the best Rock, Paper and Scissors players, to determine the absolute champion. You have been choosen to play at the tournament. Can you be good enought to win? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 4.- Starting '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Insert the disk and power on the MSX. The game will load. You can also insert the disk and type RUN"autoexec.bas". Anyway, press CTRL while booting to free more memory. It's possible to change the screen Hz by pressing H at test screen (or you can change it later at Omake menu). On a 2+/TR machine, this screen is on Kanji mode, but you can boot in normal mode by pressing K while starting. You can also disable de music loading by pressing 0 (zero) when you see the "Checking..." message. The game can be installed at Hard Disk, Compact Flash cards, or Zip disks. The game will not try to write anything on the disk. Under DOS2, the system itself reserves some memory, so there will be less free memory for game, so make sure you have enought memory if you run the game under DOS2. You need 128ks free. When the game is loaded you can select the game mode or enter at options menu. All the game, and the menus, are controled with cursor keys and space key, or a joystick at port 1. To discard a counter, button 2 or key "d" is used. (For a second player you will need a joystick at port 2) VERSUS - A single combat agains the machine or another player. CHALLENGE - Combat versus all other characters, managed by the CPU. TOURNAMENT - Tournament Mode where can play from 1 to 16 players. OMAKE - Menu options and extras. At OMAKE menu you can see these options: > SCREEN ADJUST - To correct X or Y adjust on the screen with cursor keys. > 50/ 60 hz - To change screen refresh mode. > INTRO ON/OFF - To enable or disable the Mode Intro screens on the game. > RELAX MODE ON/OFF - To play in relax mode or not. In this mode each player throws (or discards) a counter on each tourn. It's specially for these people who get stress tira (o descarta) una ficha en cada turno. Ideal para gente que coge stress very soon! It can be used to get some practice too. > EXTRAS - Find them!! > TUTORIAL - A little "How to Play" with basic instructions to help you make your first steps. > PASSWORDS - To see and enter the game passwords. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you start the game under the program Multimente, there can be changes on the password generate and it will useless if you play another season without starting with Multimente (or even with it!). So, I recommend that, if you use Multimente, exit to Basic (or DOS) and start the game there. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 5.- Playing '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 5.1. -Character Select In all game modes, you must select a character between all of them. Each one has its own skills. Select your favourite and get ready! In Versus mode, another player can play versus your character. For this press the joystick 2 fire button at character select screen, before first player selects their character. In Tournament mode, 16 player can play at the tournament. First select the player characters and then, if you want the machine to take control of the rest, press "d" key. The CPU can play with a maximum of 15 players, so the first one must be an human. But all 16 characters can be managed for 16 human players and no one for the CPU. After a match, in Versus mode, you will be asked for play again or not: Retry: To play with other characters. Continue: To play with the same characters. Exit: To exit to main menu. In Challenge and Tournament modes, there aren't any choices if you loose. In character selection menu, you can cancel at every time and return to main menu, by pressing ESC key. 5.2.- The Goal Your goal is easy. Win all your rivals by throwing counters, mainly Rock, Paper or Scissors, but there are other kind of counters to help you. And stay alert, or you will be the looser. 5.3. - How to Play [The Stores] On each side of the screen there are the Stores, at left for player 1 and right for player 2. On these Stores you will find the counters you can throw. If you throww one of the counters of the middle of the Store, the counters over it will fall to let their place to a new counter. Pressing up and down you will move the Arrow indicator along the Store. Pressing fire, you will throw the counter select to the board, at the place the Arrow is pointing. If you press left and right you can rotate the counters on the Store, so they will go up or down. In that case, the upper counter will appear at the bottom of the Store, or the last counter will appear on the top of the Store, depending on the way of the rotation. [The Board] The board is a 8x8 row. Yout must throw the counters of your Stores to it (your rival will do the same) except the inmediate counters, wich will make inmediate effect and then dissapear. [Attack counters] When you throw a counter to the board on a empty row, that counter will be the Attack counter of that row, and the following counters will be throwed back, and moving right row by row on each throw. The Attack counter always will be the counter that attack the rival one, when both of them coincide. [Confrontations] When both Attack counters coincide, there is a confrontation. Then there are three posibilities: Your counter wins (and the rival one will explodes), the rival counter wins (your counter explodes), or no one wins, so there is a draw and the row is blocked until the blocking is removed. [Row block] When two counters are in a confrontation and there is a draw (because both are the same value, stone vs stone, for example, or one of them is a Blocker), this row keeps blocked and there is no chance to throw more counter on it. But this row can be unblocked, by throwing a Bomb, for example, or a Yin Yang (but in this case, your counter will explode, so be sure!) [Attack] When your Attack counter arrives the other side of the board, it will damage your rival. Depending on the counter, this damage will be bigger or lower (and there will be more or less points). If the attack counter is an special counter type, it will take the corresponding effect; for example, if the counter is "Energy Up", your energy will be increased. On each attack, the rival's energy will be decreasing until it is zero. Of course, he can do the same to you. If the counter is an star, it will be saved on the Bonus Zone, and if you get three of it... ^_^ [Discard] Sometimes it's possible you have no correct counter to throw, for example, all rows can be blocked and in your Store there is no Bomb, Yin Yang...., or you can be Freezed (I will explain this later) and you don't have any counter to Unfreeze. In that cases, it is possible and necessary to discard counters. The counter selected will dissapear and a new counter will be on the top of the Store. But wait! Each discard you make causes a little loss of your energy. To discard a counter use fire button 2, or key "d". On Relaxed mode, discarding a counter, as well as throwing a file (of course), causes to change the throwing turn. 5.4. - The counters > Basics < They have a red background for player 1 and blue background for player 2. They are the most common game counters. Rock, Paper and Scissors are of this type. · Star: If you can attack with them, you will be accumulating it. When you get 3 of them, you get some BONUS. · Rock, Paper and Scissors: The main counters. · Blocker: It is a counter with no symbol on it. It's used to block the rows. It's a defensive counter. > Specials < They are counters with an special effect. Half of the background is of the player color and the other half is black. · Pow: This counter provides more power to the special counter it is preceded. This is, if you throw an especial counter and then you throw this counter, the first counter will have more power than a special counter wich is alone. But, this counter, by itself, has less power than a special counter wich is alone. · Energy: Recovers part of your energy. · Freeze: This counter freezes your rival, so it can't throw any counter, except inmediate ones, (in wich case it will be unfreezed). It will be unfreezed if you throw an inmediate counter too (except the ? counter!) · Dinamite: Causes a hard damage to your rival. > Inmediates < They are inmediate use counters. They will not be thrown to the board. They have green background. · Swapper: Swaps your attack counter with the rival attack counter. If there isn't one of the attack counters, it will be no effect. · Yin Yang: It causes your attack counter to explode! It can be good or bad, because it allows to unblock a row, but if you throw counters without take a look what are you doing, this counter can explode a good attack counter, so be careful! If you have no attack counter, it will be no effect. · Bomb: Explodes all your rival counters on that row! · ? : Throws a random basic counter. 5.5. - Counter rules There are a few rules. Once you know them and get practice, the game is simply and they are easy to remember: - Rock wins to Scissors, Scissors wins to Paper, and Paper wins to Rock. - Star wins to Rock, Paper and Scissors, but looses with the special counters. - The special counter win to Star, but they loose with Rock, Paper or Scissors. - The blockers always draw. - The same way Rock draws with Rock, Scissors draws with Scissors, and Paper draws with Paper, the Star draws with another Star, and the special counters draw with other special counters, with one exception: The Pow counter increases power of the special counter wich it's preceded, so this special counter will win to another special counter without a Pow. And the Pow, by itself has less value than an special counter alone. >> Summary << * > [Rock > Scissors > Paper > Rock...] > [Pow+Special > Special > Pow] > * * = Star Blockers.- Always draw ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 6.- Credits '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Program: MsxKun Graphics: MsxKun & Steven Hardest "Magita" Character Graphics: HtDreams Music & sound: MsxKun, TRAPOSOFT (ending theme - supports Music Module), Manuel Dopico (ending theme2) Beta-Testers: MsxKun, Javier Perez Powered by: Nestor Basic 1.1, Basic Kun Cover Illustration: Steven Hardest Cover & manual: MsxKun Greetings: · Imanok, for recommending the use of NestorPreTer. · Konamiman, for developing NestorBasic and NestorPreTer and for to fix a little bug on Nb+WSX. · Traposoft to explain me how to switch R800 mode on TR.
